Changing captains and guest crew
1 February 2013
After a cold and snowy period in the Netherlands the contrast was huge when I arrived in Cape Verde. It is 25 degrees, sunny and dry. In the dinghy on my way to the ship, I was welcomed by a turtle who jumped out of the blue waters. Welcome to Cape Verde! After some rituals and administrative things that need to be done when captains change, we soon left for Boa Vista. This is where we welcome our new group, which is a private charter for a four-days sailing tour. The night was clear and the wind soft and with a bright moon, we could easily find our way between the city of Sal Rei and the reefs along the coast of Boa Vista. Due to a sandstorm, the airport was closed in the morning and one of ours guests wasn’t able to reach Boa Vista. When the rest of the group was on board, we left Boa Vista and sailed back to Sal to pick him up. We expect to arrive around 8 PM, and set sail to go on to São Nicolau, where we will arrive in the morning.
