An incredibly fast passage to São Nicolau
18 February 2013
The crossing couldn’t be better. Without any problems we sail 7, 8 or 9 knots and we make an incredibly fast passage to São Nicolau. We deliberately sail widely around the cape but about 6 miles from the cape the wind disappears completely. The sea is as flat as it can be and nothings claps or bangs so we let the ship float forward. We see the moon set behind the mountains of São Nicolau and for the first time in months the sky is clear enough to see the Southern Cross. The last miles will take a long time, but it is beautiful.
