The light of Salvador
9 March 2013
The moon is a waning crescent and the dark night brings us the starry sky. No coulds anywhere and on a night like this one keeps looking at the stars. New constellations, like the Dorado in the south, named after the fish we caught, just below Canopus. In the west planets like Jupiter, so bright that one can almost read a book.
On the horizon, over starboard, we see another light, the light of Salvador. A big city with 2,5 million inhabitants with so many lights that we are able to see it from a distance of 100 miles. If the wind stays on like this, this night will be our last at sea in this leg.
