16 May First sardines spotted
First sardines spotted
16 May 2013
Last night just before the change of watch around midnight, we saw the first school of sardines in the fluorescent water, immediately followed by tens of dolphins hunting them down for dinner. A real spectacle.
Yesterday morning just after breakfast we rounded the most southern point of Africa, Cape Agulhas. The day was filled with lots of sun but little wind so we went on engine. We switched a lot of sails so everyone is getting the hang of it. We have made a lot of headway since our departure with the most ideal conditions that you can have around the cape, it can certainly be very different. The ‘Tecla’ and ‘Europa’ are close by, so we are sailing together as a fleet. The forecasts are favourable, we hope to sail this evening.
