21 May Dinner: Fresh tuna!
Dinner: Fresh tuna!
21 May 2013
All three ships left the harbour of East London yesterday morning. The wind dropped soon, so we had to use the engine. After an hour, we could set sail again. The wind increases to 3 Bft and we can do without the engine again and enjoy a beautiful tropical day. Since the wind is not from the right direction, we have to tack and with the Agulhas current against us, we make only a slow progression. But the weather is nice, the atmosphere is good and we are not in a hurry. We enjoy the sailing, catch tuna and prepare the 5 KG tuna directly! Two hours later we catch two more tunas and now we have more than enough for a nice dinner!
At night the wind drops, so we motor sail into the night. There is not much of the sardine run around us at the moment. Also the South Africans await the sardine run, there is even a warning system along the coast. Many birds again accompany us, mainly Grey petrels and gannets. And some of us have spotted a big whale spout.
