Departure
14 September 2013
Crowds waved us out this morning when we left Williamstown at 10:00. The ‘Tecla’ was the first to cast off, followed by the ‘Europa’ and the ‘Oosterschelde’. The ‘Lord Nelson’, the ‘Windward Bound’, the ‘Søren Larsen’ and other ships joined and we all set sail.
There was a light breeze and we paraded in front of Melbourne, accompanied by a fleet of boats of all sizes. Today we will stay in Port Phillip Bay, in the evening anchoring in the Capel Sound in the south of the bay. Tomorrow morning at slack tide (9:56am LT; 23:52 GMT) we will exit through the Rip to start our crossing to Tasmania.
(The picture is taken at 6:30pm LT (08:30 GMT) from the webcam at the Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron, on the moment the ‘Oosterschelde’ anchored.)
