17 Sep South West Cape
South West Cape
17 September 2013
We made good progress in these strong winds. The force has now diminished, which some people on the ship appreciated since they were seasick. All night we were busy changing sails, and still all the tall ships are close to each other; we even have visual on the ‘Søren Larsen’ and the ‘Europa’.
We are now near the Port Davey entrance, a huge fjord. Rumours say it is of a spectacular beauty but in Melbourne we have been forewarned not to enter without a pilot, and the irony is that there are no pilots available for this area anyway. So we enjoy sailing around the South West Cape. The wind is backing more and more, which favours a course along the coast, around the cape.
