Rainforest

The work on board never stops. Even when we are in a harbour it never ends. But it is also important to see something of the places that we visit on this circumnavigation. That’s why one part of the crew had a half-day of yesterday and the other half today.
We decided to make a walk in the national parks. The rainforest in Tasmania is very special and luckily very well preserved. Due to all the rain the vegetation is covered in moss and the big ferns look like trees. The biggest giants are the eucalyptus trees. The can reach up to 90 meters and are therefore the second biggest tree in the world (the biggest are the Segoias in California). Duckbills, possums, wallabies are here somewhere but we haven’t seen them yet. Also eagles, cockatoos and other birds we couldn’t see but we could hear them scream in the treetops. After this much green we can handle not seeing any for a few weeks when we are back at sea again.
