1800 miles
15 November 2013
A bit over 1800 miles of ocean slided away under our keel. Sun, beautiful cloudy skies and every so often rain on -besides that- an empty sea. The ship is rolling continuously, on some moments more fiercely than on others. Wind decreases, increases and shifts direction. These are the ingredients for an ocean crossing. One feels small and far, far away from everything. Which is basically a fact. Nevertheless many conversations are about our home enviroment. Work, children, family, city, town and even cars. The place where we come from and longing to go back to. Home.
Cape Horn. The cape that feeds our imagination. The cape of many stories told or written down. Far, far away from everything. We are going to see that cape. We are going to sail around it towards yet another ocean. Eventually to tell how it was. At home.
