The weather
21 April 2014
Our weather at the moment is mainly the result of two big areas of low pressure. One is stationary around the Azores, the other slowly moves towards us from the other side of the ocean.
Since we left Horta we have used our main engine a lot, trying to reach the east side of the first low. We were successful in that attempt and we enjoyed a nice ESE. Now the seond low is coming closer and we are temporarily caught in the middle, an area of relatively high pressure and variable, light winds. If we succeed in our plan, the wind will go SW and increase at the end of the day. For the coming two days we might have a westerly wind that might bring us all the way into the English Channel. That sounds almost like close to home.
At the moment we enjoy a nice, long ocean swell.
