The first race has come to an end
14 July 2014
Update by captain Maarten:
“The race has come to an end. We haven’t made it to the finish, but I think no ship in our class did. In the end it was all about the shortest distance to the finish line, because this was all up-wind and if we would have kept tacking, we would have been too late in Fredrikstad. It was funny to see most ships getting very close to the south coast of Norway when the race almost came to the end. The ‘Morgenster’ even sailed into a bay and could not go any further, because if they would have tacked, the distance to the finish would have become greater; so, that was not an option. We think we’ve ended somewhere in the middle of our class, but Race Control is smart enough not to tell us yet. We hope to have finished ahead of the ‘Europa’, wich is good competition. We were a bit higher up-wind, but in a straight line to the finish it probably was a close call.
Now we are about 20 mile out of Fredrikstad and after breakfast we’ll go in for all the festiveties there.”
