Nice sailing #2
25 September 2014
As we expected the wind blew us past Finisterre. Because shore was at the luff, the wind decreased, but the waves were also lower so we kept our speed. Because the wind is coming from the shore side many small birds find our ship to catch their breath as they are blown from shore. Exhausted they arrive on board. Terns, petrels and seagulls come over to visit and yesterday we had a few bottlenose dolphins swimming along with us, playing in our waves. Synchronous, side-by-side, they jumped out of the water to dive into the next wave together.
Unfortunately the wind couldn’t blow from the North forever, so we had to turn on the engine. We have passed São Vicente and we are now heading for the Strait of Gibraltar.
