30 Sep Stop in Almerimar
Stop in Almerimar
30 September 2014
As planned we went through the Strait of Gibraltar at day. And that was a good idea, because we spotted a few whales, although they were too far away to identify them. Also we saw a couple of Pilot Whales, a shark, a manta ray and a sunfish!
After the Strait, we went along the South Spanish coast and felt the need to stretch our legs. We looked for a harbour that was big enough for the ship, but still small enough to be cosy, so we got off the ship in Almerimar. Jan Korver made his famous Indonesian rice table and the next day everyone enjoyed a walk. A few of us took a bus to Almeria, the biggest town nearby, and had a Spanish real tapas lunch. When everyone came back onboard, we said goodbye to Almerimar and are now sailing the last leg to Alicante. We’ve been watching the stars above us and thunderstorms in the distance all night long.
