20 Dec Mindelo
Mindelo
20 December 2014
On Tuesday night, the 16th of December, our new guest crew came on board for the second voyage in Cape Verde. Because this is a shorter voyage then our normal 11-day voyages we lift anchor right after a short introduction about the ship and the trip ahead.
After dinner we hoist more sails and with the wind in our back we sail to São Vicente. With this course the ship rolls on the waves and this is too much for the guests who arrived that morning from the cold Netherlands, Germany, Austria and UK. But the next day after we dropped anchor at São Vicente everyone has forgotten about the day before and all are ready to visit Mindelo.
Tuesday we visit Santo Antão, the greenest island of Cape Verde, for a beautiful long walk. Early in the morning the ferry brings the guests to the neighbouring island and in the evening they returned full of stories of the amazing views. On the way back on the ferry they had a great time looking at the passengers who were moving around on the ship in a weird and unhandy way, our guests were much more experienced by now!
Upon their arrival we prepared the ship for a festive BBQ with fresh fish and salads.
After breakfast the next morning we set sail for a beautiful sailing day to São Nicolau. Under a starry sky we dropped anchor in the bay at Tarrafal, São Nicolau.
Today everyone is on tour on the island. We are looking forward to the stories about Monte Gordo and Caberinha.
