01 Mar Thoughts on Horta
Thoughts on Horta
1 March 2015
Update of March 1, by Jan ten Dam:
“Can we already speak of a kind of Channel fever, or Horta fever, on board of the ‘Oosterschelde’? I don’t know for sure. What I know is that among the guests they speak about what to do in Horta and on Faial. Without question is a visit to Peters Café Sport at the harbour of Horta. This café is world famous among sailors who cross the ocean.
However, we still have three days of sailing ahead before we can moor in Horta. And, belief me, this is no punishment. Our sailing voyage is going smoothly. From the very start we are sailing and making good progress, about 150 miles a day. We all love it very much: sailing and just the ocean around us. If you didn’t know better you could think we were alone in this world. To prove that we are not alone, a bulk carrier crossed our course at about 4 miles distance yesterday.
This way we carry on our voyage up north. The temperature is still just below 20 degrees, very pleasant.”
