21 Jul Anchor watch
Anchor watch
21 July 2015
Update by Jan:
“Mirror smooth water, no wind. We just dropped anchor in a bay about 25 miles south of Bergen. It starts to get a little dark again at night as we are slowly heading south. Anchor watch, a bit of time to write a piece for the website…
Sunday 19th of July, we have managed to manoeuvre out of the small port of Eivindvik under the watchful eye of the locals standing on the quay, often with a cup of coffee in their hand. We go on engine but we did that a lot already in recent days so we decide to sail and beat against the wind leaving the Sognesjøen behind. Finally some action, great! After a few hours we did not make any progress anymore and head back on engine in the direction of Bergen.
The next morning in Bergen: blue sky and sunshine, perfect for a day in the city. Late in the afternoon we leave for a sailing trip in the sun through the Norwegian fjords to the south. I said to Maarten: “This makes me so happy”.
And now back to the anchor watch…”
