The home stretch

We are working on the home stretch. Buns of lead are being placed one by one in the hollow keel for ballast. On the photo you see former captain and director Dick van Andel under the ship doing this job. Dick is helping Gerben these weeks with this massive restoration of the hull at the shipyard. On the second picture you can see how the new skin plates are put into the ship and follow the lines of the old skin plates. If the weather stays ok so we can paint, the ‘Oosterschelde’ will go back in the water this Wednesday.
