And Dad did it

Guestcrew memberIngo, Ingo, the ‘ex-landlubber’ alias the ‘freshwatersailor’, writes:
“‘Dad, you have to do this! Once in a lifetime’, that is what my daughter Isabella said, before I got the idea of sailing with the ‘Oosterschelde’ out of Rotterdam. She was right; for years I had been reading sea-stories of Hornblower to the tales of Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin (‘Master and Commander’). You have to know that I am the last crewmember to get on board. After Christmas I saw the tv episodes and when calling the ‘Oosterschelde’ office I was told there was still a space available. 2 januari 2016, the milemaker.
Now, after two weeks, all bells are ringing. Finally adventure, the North Sea, the Dutch coast, past Belgium and the Fremnch coast, through the English Channel. Weather permitting, we have to wait for a good wind, preferably from the North. Oh oh, I am so glad with my sealegs. Not everyone is so lucky. A lot of my fellow sailors need some time to adjust to the ships movements, but after that they are all up for it; everyone busy, great to experience this. I am having so much fun. Setting sail and taking them down with instructions and patience of the permanent crew, great guys and girls. In no time landlubbers are transferred into able bodies, who work with teamspirit to bring this ship, the ‘Oosterschelde’, to life. I am so glad I can be a part of this.”
