Texas Seaport Museum
20 April 2016
For the past few days we have been at the Texas Seaport Museum in Galveston. This the homeport of the ‘Elissa‘, a beautiful iron threemasted barque from 1877. Together with the museum we are organizing tours for the public.
Unfortunately, the weather is not very good, we have a lot train. Once in a while the traffic comes to a stop because the water is knee high in the streets. No one is really surprised by this: “It happens sometimes, nothing special yet”. Because of the rain the visitor numbers are not very high, but the people that are visiting are very excited and interested. They all think it is great that a ship has sailed all the way from the Netherlands!
We have few days left before we start the voyage home. We are waiting for bunkers, stores and new crew and then the ‘Oosterschelde’ is coming back to European waters.
