Swell and waves
17 April 2017
Northeast from the British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico the ocean is very deep. Over a relatively short distance the ocean bottom drops down. Beneath us there is 6000 meters of water and who knows what more.
The wind increased to 6Bft and the waves followed quickly, this together with the northern swell made a very uncomfortable sea and not everyone on board could appreciate this. Meanwhile luckily the swell disappeared and the wave length has increased so everyone is back on deck. We are going quite fast too with about 8 knots.
