Because we pass by the Turks and Caicos island on our way from the BVI’s to Cuba we plan a stop there. This is easier said than done as all islands are surrounded by shallow waters with many rocks and reefs. And if it is now shallow it’s very deep so it is difficult to find a suitable spot to anchor. Searching for a spot the depth sounder says 240 meters below the keel at one moment and then it gives an alarm because there is only 5 meters below the keel…
Eventually we found a nice spot and we could spend the next day on the island Grand Turk. It’s always fun to set foot on land in new places, especially when it is so desolate. It’s beautiful; surrounded by beaches like you imagine when you think of the Caribbean, with countless spots to go snorkeling.
The next day (Thursday) we sail to another deserted island for the real Robinson Crusoe-feel… And now we are on our way for the final leg to Cuba. With a bit of luck, we have time to visit another palm island to drink a coconut on…
