Piano lessons on board
4 June 2017
Since we arrived in Hamilton we have held open ship during the day. As many people come aboard, interesting events occur. Yesterday there was a lady looking for the ‘Picton Castle’; because she saw her on television. But she couldn’t get to her because ‘Picton Castle’ was anchored. So, she looked further for other ships and came on board the ‘Oosterschelde’. Once she spotted the piano in the saloon she fell in love with it. It turned out she was a pianist, so we encouraged her to play. Unfortunately, she didn’t have time, as she had to give piano lessons to her students. Well, why not teach here? So, she called her students to change the location and the piano lessons were given in our saloon!
After the piano classes it was time to get dressed up for the Crew Parade. Everyone put on their wigs and weird outfits to walk, whistling and drumming, to the Price Giving. We were handed the 2nd price!
Today the new crew come on board, and tomorrow is the Parade of Sail and we will all sail out of Hamilton. Because of safety issues, the start of the race to Boston is delayed with 48 hours. So, after the sail out we will sail a while and in the evening we will anchor in St George’s.
