Sandblasting

One of the main items on our maintenance-list is the sandblasting (and painting afterwards) of the ship. And, the one time in 25 years that we take down the masts and rigging off of ‘Oosterschelde’, to coincide with the exact same time that all sandblasting companies are down because of an asbestos scandal seems like very bad luck. But it is how it is, and right now it seems that there is no short time solution in the asbestos scandal.
We are still working on the masts and the rigging and the work is progressing. But we still do not know if the ship will be sandblasted or not. And if it will not be possible, we will have to decide what we will do instead. In the next few days we will have to make a decision, because time is ticking.
