Christmas Greetings

Jan ten Dam continues: “24 December, Christmas Eve and on board we are getting more and more into the Christmas mood. Since a few days we have a Christmas tree and once in a while we hear a Christmas song coming from the wheelhouse. Maarten has decided to stay at sea instead of finding an anchor spot for Christmas dinner. So today the cook is promoted to the most important lady on board (isn’t she always?) and she has full assistance from one sailor all day.
Meanwhile we are sailing along the Atlantic coast of Portugal and the weather is becoming more and more enjoyable. The crossing of Biscay went fast and we have sailed almost non-stop from Friday afternoon on. We are all adjusted to the watch system, eating, sleeping, relaxing. Under full sail and from all of us on board the ‘Oosterschelde’: Merry Christmas to our friends, family and the shipping office!”
