Trainee Jan ten Dam sends another update:
“We are still sailing and are making good speed on course. We still have about 240 miles to go and with this speed we’ll arrive (too) soon at Sal. So this morning Maarten announced that he is thinking about a plan to delay our arrival. Will we anchor in a bay and have a BBQ together tomorrow? Would ben nice.
In the last days the weather has been less sunny and this morning we even had some light drizzle. But the temperature is fine, even during the nights.
We have seen several large pods of dolphins. Yesterday evening we finally saw them in the dark: a fluorescent form and trail. During my watch in the beginning of the evening it’s very dark (no moon) so we could see the stars very clearly. It’s become a real sport to recognize constellations.
In my last message I reported the catch of a bonito. Eventually there were two bonito’s caught, a third one reclaimed his freedom at the last moment. The caught fish ended in a delicious soupe de poisson ‘Antoine’ for lunch.
We’ll keep on sailing till the end of this trip.”
