São Nicolau
22 February 2018
After Mindelo, we made a somewhat humid, but still beautiful walk on Santo Antão before it was time to go on. Our goal was São Nicolau. There was a light northerly wind, which made it easy to get out of São Vicente and quickly set sail. And, finally, the sun came out!
Sailing, enjoying the sun, we saw a group of fish jumping out of the water. There was a group of dolphins behind the jumping fish, so it was a beautiful spectacle right next to our ship. When the dolphins were gone we arrived at the leeside of the island and we lowered the sails.
On São Nicolau we changed the excursion again, because the local weathermen could not promise that it would stay dry. And we did not feel like spending the day in the back of a pick-up in the rain. But without pick-up we will not get to Monte Gordo, the mountain, hence we decided to do another tour. The weather was not too bad and at the end of the afternoon the sun was shining. And the afternoon is the best time to be at Cabrinha. That is why we made a short stop in Tarrafal and collected some snacks and drinks. Then we drove to the miraculous rock formation and certainly enjoyed sitting there for an hour.
When we returned on board, the bbq was already lit and we continued to enjoy. This time from Richard’s delights.
