On our way to Havana.
After a nice BBQ, with music and some great dance moves we said goodbye to two guests. The next day after breakfast, everyone disembarked and discovered Saint Martin. We are anchored in front of Marigot, at the French side of the island, because the French bureaucracy has a better reputation than the Dutch one on the island. Some people explore the Dutch part of the islands and others just enjoy the salads, fish, beers, wines and cocktails in the harbour. In the meantime, the crew is preparing the ship for the voyage towards Cuba.
In September, Saint Martin was hit by a hurricane, and it has left its mark on the island. During our stay on land, I contacted my family at home. I’m happy to speak to my wife and children again. In the evening we welcome the new guest crew of 8 on board. Some of them have lots of sailing experience. For one woman it was the 10th time on board ‘Oosterschelde’, so this was celebrated with a cake and a present. Before dinner we had set the sails, unfortunately there was little wind. New watches were composed. We have to get used to the new guest crew but I have a feeling that it only takes little time for this group to be accustomed and we will have a great time all together!
