Departure Horta

When we loaded our bunkers, we set the first sails (at the quay) and sailed out of the harbour. With the variable wind it did not go that fast, but it is a lot of fun, for us, but also for the people on the quay. Once outside of the harbour there was a constant wind and we sailed north. 
At the end of the night the wind veered north, so we changed our course to the east. This went pretty well until the evening. The wind veered slowly further, and we went more south. As we are ‘only’ steering 60 degrees in the wrong direction, this is still the best option. For now, our VMG (velocity made good) is still around 3,5 knots. If the wind decreases or shifts too far the VMG will drop quickly, so then we have to make a different plan. But until that time, we sail on!
