The finish is near

17 July 2018

Today was not a good day. The wind shifted further and further to the southeast, which caused us to sail more north. But we were already north of most of the ships…
In the evening the current turned so we gibed. Many ships followed with gibes. Now we are sailing in a direction to the south, but because we were more north than the other ships, this means that we are now laying behind.
It also seems that the other ships have more wind and a better course, so we fear we will have a hard time catching up. And the finish of the race is near. We still have 24 hours to reach the finish line, otherwise we will end up with a ‘finish-at-sea’. This is not really the point of the race, but does not necessarily have to be bad for our final score. How this exactly works is quite difficult to explain, so I won’t get started on it, just believe these words of the captain. We will pull out all the stops to get to the finish line as fast as we can!
