02 Dec Favourable wind
Favourable wind
2 December 2019
When the OOSTERSCHELDE was still sailing as a sailing cargo vessel, she often had to wait for days or even weeks for favourable wind. And if we have the time, we still do the same.
We have been waiting for almost a week in the English Channel due to a strong south-westerly wind. But now there is a high-pressure area west of Ireland that is moving east slowly. The wind around a high-pressure area is turning clockwise. So on the east side of it there is a north-easterly wind. Exactly what we need for a good crossing. So now the OOSTERSCHELDE has left for the crossing of the Bay of Biscay. With, as it looks now, days on end good wind.
