13 Mar The Azores
The Azores
13 March 2020
We made a stopover at Ponta Delgada on São Miguel, a nice city on a beautiful island. Here, everyone had the time to stretch their legs and discover the island. The cook has filled the food supplies and the watertank.
Yesterday evening, our guest Maarten van Eden treated us with a dinner at restaurant Casa da Rosa. We had a full blown dinner and had a very nice evening. Thank you very much Maarten!!
It seems that we arrived right on time at the Azores. The people on these islands are also scared of the coronavirus. From today on, no ships will be allowed into the country and the group of islands will be ‘closed’. We are happy that we already arrived because the vegetables from Cape Verde have seen better days.
In the mean time we continued our journey to the Mediterranean Sea. Unfortunately the wind is not in our favor. We are sailing on the south side of a high pressure area and have a little wind from the east.
That is why we are sailing north. We want to get through the heart of the high pressure area so we get wind from the west. This wind should get us to the Portuguese coast. From there on the ‘Nortada’ should take us to the south. At least, this is the plan….
