Sometimes you have those days when it’s just great sailing! This morning it didn’t seem to be such a day. The wind was very restless: it turned 40 degrees back and forth and the force was between 2 and 5 bft. Here and there a (drizzle) shower came over us, but luckily the sun was usually present. Due to the occasional strong wind, we kept the reefs in the sails and played with the square rigging. Topgallant sail on, and off, and on again and not much later off again. This afternoon it stabilized somewhat, and the sun continued to shine. That made it a very nice sailing day in the end.
After dinner we tightened the sails a bit and turned on the engine to gain some more height. We eventually have to go north to get to the top of the high-pressure area and find westerly winds.
Meanwhile, the mood is very good. A lot of jokes are made and because of that there is also a lot of laughter and even more fun. One of the things we found out today is that real, professional sailors are very easy to recognize: just look at the socks.. (see photo).
