How to get near Gibraltar?
Slowly but surely, we sailed deeper into the high pressure area and slowly the wind decreased and became constant. As a result, we were finally able to set more sails! Sailing under a radiant sun with (almost) all sails over the crystal-clear ocean with seven knots: who wouldn’t want that?! Every now and then, a small drizzle comes by, which makes us to appreciate the sun even more!
Unfortunately, all good things come to an end and as expected, the wind slowly dropped this afternoon to the point where it is not longer enough to have all sails. We lowered most, and started the engine to ‘push’ us through the center of the high pressure area. The expected westerly wind is just not to be found yet, because a huge low-pressure area is raging past us, and it doesn’t seem to care about us at all. We decided to use it as ‘train’ that will take us north!
We have been thinking if we shouldn’t try to hang on for as long as possible and go East, but if we did so, we expect to arrive too south at the Moroccan coast, from where it will be difficult to sail north to Gibraltar.
