Since I’ve been writing mostly about the wind and weather in the last few weeks, let’s talk about something else: how to keep the guests entertained?

One of the best things to do, of course, is the ‘Oosterschelde-quiz’, with various questions about the ship and navigation. Additionally, we’ve discussed a list of around 60 frequently used abbreviations on board! General things, like RADAR, EPIRB, COG, nM, but also a few specific ones, like BMF and MM.

A few days ago, we organized a pub quiz, with all questions about music: name the members of Queen, where is Jim Morrison buried, name members of the ‘club of 27’. And we also played some intro’s and were asked for the song title and artist.

There is also regularly something to celebrate, for instance Boudewijn’s birthday. This came with balloons, birthday songs, cake and of course more songs!

Today, at April’s Fools-day, there are strange things happening. This morning, our cook entered the galley, it turned out that it was ‘suddenly’ completely filled with balloons! Not only on the floor and counter, but also in the oven, dishwasher, and even in the fridges! There is also someone who secretly sticks fish-stickers on people’s backs, so most of us are walking around with a sticker. One sees it on others, but does not consider that they themselves have been given one as well. And this day has just started…
