According to the local regulations we have to take a pilot on board for the last part in Lisbon (and again when we leave Lisbon). The place where the pilot will come on board is fixed and the time can be agreed upon a few hours in advance. Then you must be there on time, and that is sometimes difficult with a sailing ship. A nice challenge for us. Especially on the river there is wind one moment and a little later it is gone again. Then again from behind and then again from right in front. But all in all it was a wonderful last day of sailing, in the sun, against a background of red roofs, towers of cathedrals, under a 60 meter high bridge, sailing straight into the city. Before the quay the rigging is off, everything is cleaned up on deck followed by a ‘sundowner’ on deck. It was a beautiful journey.
