I didn’t know that so many people travel to Madeira! About 5 planes per hour land at the airport near the town of Machico, and depart again, I assume. We know this because we were anchored right under the approach for the planes, about a mile from the runway. That was a pity. Especially because the bay is beautiful, with white houses with red roofs silhouetted against steep green mountains. And Machico is not that touristy at all.

We have now been on our way to the south for a good day and we have a north and southeast winds of 2 to 4 bft. Great to quietly sail towards the Canary Islands. Sometimes very slowly, sometimes faster.
