President Cape Verde!
We are anchored in the bay of Mindelo. The second Darwinleader week is almost over. In the salon, the final touches are being put on the videos for the presentations that will be held this afternoon. Projects have been started at various locations. Some Darwinleaders camped on the uninhabited islands of Santa Lucia and Raso for a few days, and two teams spent several days on Santo Antão.
On Santo Antão, the Darwinleaders were honored with a presidential visit. The President of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves, specially came from Santiago to Santo Antão to look at the projects. While the president visited the projects, we anchored with the ‘Oosterschelde’ and sailed to Santo Antão to pick up the president. With the president and his entourage on board, we hoisted the sails. We sailed back to Mindelo with the president at the helm!
