Getting ready
After two wonderful weeks in Sydney, it’s almost time for us to set sail again. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our time in this iconic city, and we’ve certainly made the most of its stunning harbour. In total, we have sailed past the Opera House 16 times, spent a night at anchor right next to it, and even docked alongside the steps by the building!
Today, we’re busy getting everything shipshape for our next journey. We’ll secure everything for sea, stow supplies, take on fresh water, and make sure the ship is fully prepared. In the afternoon, we’ll welcome our trainees aboard for the upcoming voyage to Hobart.
This journey will be particularly special, as we’ll be following the same route as the famous “Sydney to Hobart Race.” Known as one of the most challenging yacht races in the world, it takes competitors through the treacherous Tasman Sea and near the Bass Strait, where the seas can be rough. While modern racing yachts can complete the distance in just two days, we’ll be taking it at a more leisurely pace, with five days to cover the journey.
